What we are not:

We are not a social group.  Yes friendships will develop, we will have camaraderie but we are about training and training to a standard.  Comradeship is important but the mission comes first.

What we are:

We are people just like you and your neighbors. Veterans, blue collar workers, we are the elderly, middle aged and the young. We are people that care about the safety, welfare and freedom of our families and communities. We are a civil defense group that is in 100% support of the defense of the constitution of Michigan and the United States. We will support local communities in all areas a good citizen would volunteer for.  All U.S. citizens are allowed to join as long as they are of good moral character and values. General membership in the militia is open to all lawful citizens of a state, ages 16(parent consent) and up. There shall be no discrimination due to race, sex, national origin or physical characteristics or previous history. We will be based in Wexford, county (Zone 1).  Missaukee (Zone 2), Kalkaska (Zone 3), Grand Traverse (Zone 4), Benzie (Zone 5), Manistee (Zone 6), Lake (Zone 7), Osceola (Zone 8) counties. Other counties are welcomed as well. We will expand as necessary.

How will we train:

We will train on private and public land.  Training will consist of topics of military in nature to include Tactical, NBC, Tactical Medicine and Communication methods.  Other training can be law enforcement techniques such as conducting a frisk search and applying hand restraints on a prisoner,  homesteading and home preparedness topics and other medical skills. Training listed should not be considered a complete list.  Other topics can be considered and evaluated to be relevant to mission success.  Most important is that our training will be based on established doctrine.  Meaning we will train to the same exact same requirements that our military trains to or a civilian equivalent.  We may not succeed all the time but we will try and then try again.

Those in leadership positions must attend classes for troop leading procedures, operations order, map reading/map graphics and land navigation, making a sand table and using it for briefings.  Leadership classes will be open to all members and other militias if space is available to promote advancement.  Once we are established as a unit, leadership will be voted in and can be voted out annually.
